Welcome Remarks 2016
My name is Dr. Peter Danis and I am President of the American Academy of Fertility Care Professionals.I wonder if some morning I will wake up and pick up the newspaper or look on line and read the headlines “The world has officially been declared a mess!” One day you hear or read about a tragedy or a scandal, and you think that the next day headlines will be better, and then the next day comes, and it is the same or worse. Can our world and humanity sink any lower? What hope is there for us to be able turn this tide of despair?
I don’t have a simple motto or a slick platform that I can give you tonight.
What I can say is that I have some “good news”, some wisdom and some hope for all of you here at this conference, and for the lives that you will touch in the weeks to come. You have come to the right place!
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome you to the opening of the 35th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of FertilityCare Professionals, A Higher Degree of Life and Love, Innovation in Women’s Health through FertiliyCare and NaProTECHNOLOGY.
Over the next 3 days, you will be educated, inspired, and affirmed. This conference is a gift for all of you as we say thanks for all that you do in a variety of communities in the United States and around the world. From this meeting you are going to get the “head knowledge” to be smarter as well as the tools to be more successful in your practice as you professionally share your skills. In addition to the formal educational opportunities, you will be able to take advantage of a wealth of knowledge and faith that surrounds you as you network and share with new friends and colleagues.
I have been attending these meetings since 1995, and I want you to know that this year we have another outstanding program. This will be a week that you will not forget!
We also have great activities that have been planned for the entire family including the Thursday night Planetarium presentation “All Creation gives Praise” and the Friday afternoon trip to the beach and wineries. And if you still have some energy or ideas to share at the end of the day, our hospitality room is a great place to go.
Before we go any further. I’d like to invite Father Terry Ehrman, our chaplain for this meeting, to offer the opening prayer.
Thank you Father Ehrman.
The Academy wants to recognize and thank the following groups:
Our Founders who created the Creighton Model Fertility Care System: Dr Tom and Sue Hilgers, Diane Daly, and Ann Prebil
- The Past presidents of our organization
- Our Fertility Care Educators that carry on the mission of training our future practitioners
- Our Fertility Care Practitioners that work day in and day out with our women and couples and families
- Our medical consultants that support our practitioners
- Our families that support us
- Our clergy that minister to all of us
I also want to welcome those who are attending an Annual Meeting for the very first time. I am confident that this experience will make you hungry for more and that you will return to future meetings.
Finally, speaking for myself and our board, we look forward to hearing from you this week so that we can continue to improve what we do in the areas of service, education, leadership, and research.
Now, I am pleased to introduce our site host, Suzie Younger, to share with you the exciting details of what is in store over the next 3 days. SUZY is a CFCP and Supervisor of Saint Joseph FertilityCare Center at Saint Joseph Health System in Mishawaka, Indiana.
She has many great qualities that she shares with her clients, colleagues, family and friends.
Suzy and her program committee have done an outstanding job putting together this exceptional meeting and experience for you. We are grateful for all of their dedication and hard work in helping us to put this meeting together.
Please welcome to the podium, our 2016 site host, Suzy Younger.
