Welcome Remarks 2017
My name is Dr. Peter Danis and I am President of the American Academy of Fertility Care Professionals.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome you to the opening of our 36th Annual Meeting, Expanding the Borders of Health and Fertility through the Creighton Model FertiliyCare System and NaProTECHNOLOGY.
I’d like to invite Father Joseph Tham, our chaplain for this meeting, to offer the opening prayer.
Thank you Father Tham
Why have you come here?
What are you looking for?
30 years ago, I began a journey when I turned away from hormonal contraceptives to honor life from the beginning of conception, and to honor the purpose of God’s plan for marriage. I knew that there had to be a better approach to family planning and women’s health, but I did not have the answer. I found what I was looking for in the approach that Dr Hilgers and the Co-founders had created in the Creighton Model FertilityCare System. After just a 1-day meeting on NaProTECHNOLOGY, I rediscovered the true meaning of providing compassionate, excellent health care to women. I got back on the road to becoming the physician that God had been calling me to be, from the very start of my journey.
Over the next 3 days, you will receive knowledge, wisdom, and courage. Your journey to be the very best that you can be, in whatever role that you find yourself in the field of Women’s Health, may not become easier, but it will become better. The science and the medicine and this community will help you along that journey.
It is an EPIC battle that we are in to save the men, women, and families of the world. Winston Churchill warned that “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men and women to do nothing.”
Where will you go and what will you do with the gifts that will be given to you this week? Every one of you is called to be a leader, no matter how small or great that role may be. What you will learn this week will to help to set the world of women (and men) free from contraception, sexual confusion, and a harmful and degrading approach to healthcare. The Creighton Model FertilityCare System & NaProTECHNOLOGY are what the bible refers to as a “a pearl of great price”. Many of you have already sacrificed a great deal for this pearl. But the beauty of a pearl is nothing without the appreciation of those who will see it. It is not something to be hidden. My prayer and challenge for you is that you share with the world the beauty of the precious pearls that you will receive this week.
Our Academy would like to recognize and thank the following groups:
- The Co-founders who created the Creighton Model Fertility Care System: Dr Tom & Sue Hilgers, Diane Daly, and Ann Prebil
- The Past presidents of our organization
