Fr. Borkenhagen was born and raised in south-central Wisconsin. After graduating from high school, he moved to Kansas to attend college. He graduated from then Kansas Newman College (now Newman University) in 1997 with a B.A. in history. While at Newman, he discerned the Lor’ds call to serve Him as a priest, so he entered the seminary for the Diocese of Wichita in the fall of 1997 and did his theological studies at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD. He was ordained a transitional deacon during the Jubilee Year of 2000 and a priest in 2001, both by Bishop Eugene J. Gerber. He served as a parochial vicar at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and St. Elizabeth An Seton Parish. While serving as a parochial vicar, he taught at Kapaun Mt. Carmel and Bishop Carroll Catholic High Schools. He also served as the associate director of the Office of Worship for one year in the fall of 2001. Fr. Borkenhagen was appointed the spiritual director to the Midwest Catholic Family Conference, a role he filled for nine years. In 2005, he was made the pastor of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons, KS. He served there for 12 years and then was assigned to further studies in Rome. There he studied at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas where he earned a License in Sacred Theolgoy in Thomistic Studies in 2019 and is currently doing doctoral work through the same university. Father has a great love for the Angelic Doctor and the Dominicans and is a member of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Dominic.
