Frequently Asked Questions

Who can be an Active (voting) member?

Active (voting) members of the AAFCP are Certified FertilityCare service providers (CFCMC, CFCP, CFCNP, CFCE, etc.). They have first completed an accredited FertilityCare education program and worked as qualified FertilityCare providers for at least one year. Once requirements are met and within three years of their education program completion, to become certified, the provider then must go through a review process. FertilityCare Medical Consultants are certified through case study and an additional certification exam. FertilityCare Practitioners are certified through an application and case selection and review process. This certification must be renewed every three to four years to ensure the highest quality care and includes continuing education requirements.

Who can be an Associate member?

Associate membership is a catch all category for our organization. Associate members can be Certified FertilityCare providers, or qualified FertilityCare providers who are working toward certification after completion of their education programs. Associate members can also be anyone who supports the work of pro-life women’s healthcare. These are often members of the clergy, users of FertilityCare services, marriage and family ministers, or family and spouses of FertilityCare providers. Anyone can be an associate member as long as they agree to our Code of Ethics.

How can I become a Student member?

Student membership is only open to students who are currently enrolled in an AAFCP accredited education program or awaiting results of their final exam. Student membership is FREE for the first year! Once the student has received notice they have passed their final examination, the program director or student should notify the VP for Membership that they are no longer a student. The student membership will then automatically change to associate membership.

To become a student member, complete the application and request that your program director or supervisor email a letter of recommendation to the VP for Membership.

Remember, your first year of student membership is FREE!

What happens when I'm no longer a student?

Once the student has received notice that they have passed their final examination, the program director or student should notify the VP for Membership that they are no longer a student. The student membership will then automatically change to associate membership.

I'm set to retire. How can I become a Special member?

Special members are retired Active (voting) members who wish to remain in the AAFCP but cannot maintain Active status due to retirement from teaching or medical practice. This membership category is only approved by the Board of Directors.

Active (voting) members who wish to change to special membership must apply before formal retirement begins to be considered. Current active members who wish to apply for special membership due to retirement can contact the Academy. Alternately, retired members are also eligible for Associate membership if they choose.

Can I nominate someone for Honorary membership?

Honorary members are those people who have made significant contribution in their lifetime to the advancement of FertilityCare services in their fields. These members are nominated by current active membership and granted honorary status by the Board of Directors only. There are no membership dues for honorary members.

If you are an active member and wish to nominate someone you think is deserving of honorary membership, please contact VP of Membership.

When are dues collected?

Dues are collected annually on January 1 for membership during that calendar year.

What does the financial contribution of annual dues support?

The financial contribution of annual dues supports the ongoing efforts of the AAFCP to promote authentic pro-life women’s healthcare. Continuing education, program accreditation, legislative efforts, outreach, and website maintenance would not be possible without the support of our members and their annual dues!
